FCL on top bar stands for Fraternity, Charity, Loyalty. This was the motto of the WRC under the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR). Photo shows three (3) angles of interest on the same medal. Maker mark: AUG.C. FRANK CO. PHILA. Pin is like a regular safety pin catch but mfg attached.
Total length is 2.5 inches. Medal is 1 inch square. Ribbon is a bit faded but, hey, you would be too if you were made in 1883.
